Question 1

Tuesday 13-February-2007

I am buying the antibody ab42085 and it is noted in your website, that I can ask for the peptide that served to produce that antibody. Can you please send the sequence to me because it is needed to check my experiments.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, I am unable to provide the immunogen sequence for this antibody on this occasion.

However, I am able to provide other information on the immunogen peptide that was used. The peptide is contained in the propeptide domain of PC-9. This spans the putative end of the propeptide domain, and continues 10 residues into the aminoterminus of the cleaved PC-9 protein. Most of the epitope area is in the propeptide domain. By Western blot, the antibody does detect both the shed fragment of the propeptide domain and the larger fragment that is active PC9. In testing, the bands are about 20 kDA for the shed propeptide at 62-64 kDA for the bulk of the PC9 (this is on 10% acrylamide reduced SDS PAGE gel blots). The band intensity is about the same for both bands.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Question 2

Tuesday 23-January-2007

I was wondering if you might have heard back about the antigen recognition properties of this IgG as referenced below? Catalog number is ab42085

ANSWER:

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

I have received a reply from the supplier. ab42085 will recognize the ~15 kDa propeptide in WB. This information has been added to the product datasheet.

Please don't hesitate to contact us again if you have further questions.
