Hi, Thanks for that, I just have one remaining question about its reconstitution, by carrier protein do you mean Human or bovine serum albumin as stated for the reconstition of ab51925? Help on this would be most useful |
|||||||||
ANSWER: |
Yes, either HSA or BSA will be fine to use in the reconstitution of ab9706. We would also recommend a quick spin in a microcentrifuge prior to opening the vial to make sure the protein gets down to the bottom of the vial, then using sterile H2O and adding a carrier protein as mentioned if diluting below 0.1mg/ml (for example 0.1% BSA). If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. |

Hi, I am a researcher at Edinburgh University and I have just ordered and received PDGF BB protein (ab9706) for use in growth medium Purchase Order Number 4506313210/50F. Upon looking for its reconstitution I have discovered another PDGF BB protein (ab51925) with the abbreviation (Active). Can PDGF BB protein ab9706 be used for my purpose or is it inactive? If so I can return the Inactive form and have it replaced with the active form as the inactive form is of no use for these purposes. I think that if this is inactive, it should have been made clear on the website otherwise I would clearly not have purchased this. I wish to commence a series of very expensive experiments which will require continued use of this growth factor, could you please clarify this as soon as possible, |

ANSWER: |
Thank you for contacting us. Both PDGF BB protein ab9706 (human) and ab51925 (mouse) have been assessed for activity by dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of Balb/c 3T3 cells with ED50 of 1.0-3.0 ng/ml and 2 ng/ml resepectively. They are both active. I am sorry that the information provided on the website has been confusing and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will be amending this for future customers.
ab9706 can be reconstitution with water, however a carrier protein is required if aliquotting under 0.1mg/ml. I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information. |
