I am using the following antibodies against a part of Plasmodium falciparum MSP1 protein in Western blot:
[B937P] (ab38252)
[PEM-1] (ab38751)

I was wondering if you have any information about the epitopes of these two antibodies?
Moreover, do you know if they bind native and/or denatured form of the protein?

Regarding the anti-Plasmodium falciparum MSP1 antibody, clone B937P, we are still waiting for the originating laboratory to provide the location of the epitope, if mapped. The same question was asked in 2007 by another customer and at that time, the location of the epitope was unknown. I have also asked if it is known to bind the native and/or denatured form of the protein and will forward this information when I receive it.

For the other antibody you asked about, anti-Plasmodium falciparum MSP1 antibody, clone PEM-1, the originating laboratory reports that they have tested this antibody only with recombinant protein produced in E. coli under reducing and denaturing conditions. Again, the location of the epitope the antibody binds to is unknown.

What is the size of the protein detected, as Plasmodium falciparum MSP1 is cleaved in several fragments?

I have just been informed that ab38252 is tested by the laboratory using ELISA. The Western blot application is based on feedback from customers. Unfortunately, we therefore do not have any details regarding the fragment size recognized from this testing.
