Overview

Product name

Pro-Myristic Acid

Description

Negative control for MiTMAB™ and OcTMAB™

Biological description

Negative control molecule for use with MiTMAB™ (ab120466) and OcTMAB™ (ab120467). Pro-Myristic acid is an in vitro inhibitor of dynamin I and II, targeting the PH (lipid binding) domain (IC50 = 9.2 µM for inhibition of dynamin I GTPase). Although cell permeable, it is rapidly broken down by cellular esterases to release intracellular myristic acid, which is not a dynamin inhibitor (IC50 = =300 µM for receptor-mediated endocytosis). It can therefore be used as a negative control in cell-based studies with MiTMAB™ and/or OcTMAB™.

General notes

Providing storage is as stated on the product vial and the vial is kept tightly sealed, the product can be stored for up to 6 months.

Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one week. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.
