Could ab53897 cross react with calcitonin? For ab53897 if there was cross reaction with calcitonin could you help recommend a product which could not cross react with calcitonin in ELISA application. Would you please help confirm this information? Many thanks.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The immunogen sequence used to make this antibody is located within the propeptide region of calcitonin, amino acids 69-82 of Human Procalcitonin (http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P01258). As this sequence is not found in the mature peptide, this antibody will only recognize the propeptide and not the mature cleaved peptide. This antibody is therefore suitable for ELISA detection of the propeptide and will not crossreact with the mature calcitonin.
