Relevance
RAB11FIP5 is enriched in polarized epithelial cells where it localises to subapical recycling endosomes (AREs) and the apical plasma membrane. It is a Rab effector involved in protein trafficking between these two locations. Autoantibodies are found to this protein in sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or Sjoegren syndrome (SS), and in the sera from mothers of children with neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE).
