I'm actually looking for an isotype control that would fit with the ab15684(smooth muscle cells antibody HM19/2). Ideally, I would like to use a rat IgM.Do you have any suggestions? Would a rat IgG be a good isotype for immunofluorescence with that antibody? The same question can be apply for the secondary antibody. The technical data sheet suggest ab6730 which is a rabbit polyclonal to rat IgG coupled to a FITC molecule. Is it a good choice?

ANSWER: |
Thank you for your recent enquiry. For immunohistochemistry, I would recommend simply omitting the primary antibody step as a control experiment. Indeed any of the secondary antibodies recommended on the datasheet of ab15684 will work (in my view Cy5 might be brighter than FITC and an amplification with HRP or biotin can also enhance greatly your signal if you suspect low abundance of the protein in your samples). You have not mentioned the source of your cells, but please remember the antibody is a rat monoclonal so it cannot be used on rat cells. I hope this information helps, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information,

Hi, I am using Rat monoclonal (YOL1/34) to alpha Tubulin (ab9267), dispatched on: 6-Aug-2003 and Rabbit polyclonal to Rat IgG H&L (FITC) (ab6730, dispatched on: 6-Aug-2003. I would like to visualize Plant (Arabidopsis) alpha tubulin. Did any of your customers already try these antibodies in planta? |

ANSWER: |
We have had no feedback from customers that may have used these antibodies in plant. |
