Relevance

S100 proteins are low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins containing the EF-hand motif which are apparently involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. Originally isolated from brain, members of the S100 family have been shown to be expressed in a large variety of tissues. S100P has been found to be overexpressed in tumors that metastasized during the course of the disease and can be used as a prognostic marker for survival.

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - S100P antibody (ab42288)

ICC/IF image of ab42288 stained HeLa cells. The cells were 4% PFA fixed (10 min), permabilised in 0.1% PBS-Tween (20 min) and incubated with the antibody (ab42288, 5µg/ml) for 1h at room temperature. 1%BSA / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine was used to block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The secondary antibody (green) was Alexa Fluor® 488 goat anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) used at a 1/1000 dilution for 1h. Alexa Fluor® 594 WGA was used to label plasma membranes (red). DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue). However, this Fast-Track antibody is not yet fully characterised. This image represents inconclusive preliminary data.
