Specificity
ab12086 detects SAP102 protein (at approximately 102-112kD). Peptide blocking quenches SAP102 specific bands, but not the lower molecular weight bands which are also observed <100kD (data not shown); we do not know the identity of these lower bands.

Application notes
WB: Use at a concentration of 0.5 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 102-112 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 102 kDa). Can be blocked with SAP102 peptide.
Not tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Involvement in disease
Defects in DLG3 are the cause of mental retardation X-linked type 90 (MRX90) [MIM:300189]. Mental retardation is characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Non-syndromic mental retardation patients do not manifest other clinical signs.
