Question 1

Thursday 24-May-2012

Incorrect or no signal in western blot.

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting Abcam earlier today.

I am sorry that you were not able to get a signal in western blot of rat hypothalamus samples.

The antibody is covered under our Abpromise for six months and is guaranteed to work in western blot on rat samples . If we cannot resolve the issue you are having with the antibody then I would be happy to either send a replacement antibody or to process a refund.

Below is the link the ab16030 antibody that we discussed on the telephone:

http://www.abcam.com/SOCS3-antibody-ab16030.html

If you would like to receive this antibody as a free of charge replacement, or if you would like a refund instead, please let me know. If you could also include either the Abcam order number or PO number used to purchase ab3693, that would be very helpful as I cannot find any orders within the last 6 months that was shipped to your address.

I look forward to your reply and helping resolve this issue.

Question 2

Monday 21-May-2012

We have recently bought your antiboby ab16030 (anti-Socs3). Actually we want to do immunoflourescent stain in brain mouse. We have some strange stain. I do not have the images now, but I can send you latter. I just want to know if you have some informations about how is the patter of this antibody in the brain, no matter the specie. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

I am afraid that we have not tested the antibodyusing mouse brain sections, nor received any simialr feedback/data from other researchers. I did however manage to find a relevant publication on the internet regarding SOCS3 that hassome images of mouse brain staining.

Lebel et al. 2000. Selective Involvement of Interleukin-6 in the Transcriptional Activation of the Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling-3 in the Brain during Systemic Immune Challenges. Endocrinology. Vol 141: 3749-3763.

http://endo.endojournals.org/content/141/10/3749.full.pdf

Also, you could refer to Human Protein Atlas website and look for staining images under CNS (brain).

http://www.proteinatlas.org/ENSG00000184557

I hope these 2 links will provide the necessary reference staining pattern you are looking for.

If there is anything else that I can help you with please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a nice day!

Question 4

Wednesday 18-April-2012

Please see below. The customer said two of the vials were defective.
She
would like a replacement at no charge.
...
I actually contacted customer support regarding this antibody.
The first vial I ordered worked great, but the second and third never did.
I to think we should be refunded or at least get a replacement with a
comparable product.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your email.

I have checked the order xxx. This is for 1 vial of lot GR21398-1 whichwas already replaced free of charge in xxx.

Since this is now a technical issue for a lot that we know should work, and in order to process the request of replacement, I would need to obtain more experimental information:

1) Which lot numbers is the customer refering to? What are the order numbers?
2) What experiment was conducted (e.g. WB, IHC)?
3) What type of samples were used? What species?
4) What was the exact problem with each vial?
5) What antibody dilution/incubation time was used?
6) What is the detection system?
7) What other details (e.g. blocking step) were included in the protocol?

I look forward to hear back from you and to assist you further.

Question 5

Friday 13-April-2012

Please see below a response we have received from one of our customers;

Thanks for the update. Can we please have a replacement antibody from an unaffected batch?

We'd also be interested to find out what the exact problem was as we've already used this antibody in experiments.

Their order details are:
xxx

ANSWER:

Thank you for your email.

I have checked this order number, but could not find the antibody ab16030 on it. Could you please check if a different order might be the correct one?

I found thefollowing 2orders xxx and xxx instead. Coudl any of these be the right order for this customer?

As far as the detailed reason:
Lot GR21398-1 was retested due to complaints in WB (no bands). The retests showed very high background in relation to the signal strength of the band of interest. Therefore, the lab recommendedtooffer lot GR54496-1as a replacement instead.

I look forward to hear back from you.
