Question 1

Tuesday 24-April-2012

I discussed this subject with the customer and they prefer to receive a replacement (ab53100) from a different lot. Do you have another lot that is not GR12215-3?
Thank you for the assistance and reply.
Best Regards,

ANSWER:

Thank you for kindly confirming these details as this enables us to closely monitor the quality of our products
I can confirm that one vial of ab53100 with lot number is GR54038 has been added in order 1074322.
Thank you for your help and cooperation. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.

Question 2

Wednesday 11-April-2012

In continuation to our previous correspondence, the customer repeated WB according to your suggestions.
The dilution of 1/1000 results in 2 bands, whether the dilution of 1/500 shows only 1 band. The positive control of HeLa lysate do not assist in the identification of the right band size in the tested samples.
The customer also attached the images of WB with ab52903 and ab65847 in addition to ab53100.
The images of ab53100 and ab52903 are similar and the customer wonders if it may happen that these 2 antibodies recognize the same target.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance foryour assistance and reply.
Kind Regards,

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Question 4

Wednesday 11-January-2012

Dear Abcam, I was wondering if it is possible to order ab52903 in a smaller volume size (e.g. 20 ul) for evaluation purposes? I would like to trial this antibody for whole-mount immunofluorescence and 3-D multiphoton imaging in chick embryos. If the antibody is successful I would anticipate ordering in larger volumes. I would also be interested to know whether ab52903 has been tested for cross-reaction with other Smad family members, or if it is known/predicted to react with the chicken antigen. Many thanks in advance,

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting us. I am very sorry to inform you that this antibody is only available in 100ul vials, and therefore, I am unable to send you a smaller size for evaluation purposes. However, all of our products are covered by our Abpromise® guarantee, which ensures that you can trust our products, and they should work in the tested species and applications stated on the datasheet, or we will offer a replacement, credit, or refund, if reported within 6 months of purchase. To read about our Abpromise policy: http://www.abcam.com/index.html? pageconfig=abpromise Regarding the antibody specificity, it cross reacts with Smad1 and Smad2, based on our peptide blocking test. It is also likely to cross-react with Smad5. This antibody is predicted to react with the chicken antigen, since its immunogen shares 100% identity with chicken. If you wish to share with us the results obtained from your experiments in chicken species in any of the applications stated on the datasheet, you can participate in our antibody evaluation service and we can offer you a discount code for a future purchase. Therefore, I can offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy the antibody now, test it in chicken species and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody. If you are interested in this offer, please let me know before placing the order. To find out more about our Abreview system, please visit: http://www.abcam.com/abreviews I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Question 5

Wednesday 07-September-2011

Hello

I am using the phospho-Smad3 antibody (ab52903) for immunocytochemistry experiments in smooth muscle cells. I have difficulty in finding a good fluorescent-labelled secondary antibody. I noticed that on your website you have two very nice images of immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence. I was wondering if you could give me information about the secondary antibodies that were used in each of these two stainings. If not do you know of any other fluorescent-labelled secondary antibodies that can be used with Smad3 antibody for immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence experiments? Preferably a secondary antibody that does not interfere with 488 wavelength.

Thank you

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately I do not have the exact details of the secondary antibodies used for the ICC images on the front of the datasheet. I just searched for pre-adsorbed (recommended to reduce non-specific binding) secondary antibodies conjugated with a flurophore outside the 488 wavelength and identified 56 matches. I would encourage you to use the search engine on our website to identify suitable products, here is a link:

Alternatively, is there a specific wavelength that you would prefer to use and I can identify suitable products?

We are currently running an offer on our secondary antibodies. The first 50 orders will receive a free copy of IHC methods. Please quote the following code and see the link for more information:
