Relevance
|
Staphylococcus aureus are gram-positive bacteria that, although part of the normal flora of humans (nasal passages, skin and mucous membranes), have the potential to become opportunistic pathogens. S. aureus is a frequent cause of a wide range of infections and some bacterial strains have become resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.

Immunohistochemistry (Frozen sections) - Staphylococcus aureus antibody (ab20920)
ab20920 staining an abscess in rat calf tissue prepared as a 20 µm cryoslice. Tissue was fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0,5% Trition X100 in PBS, and blocked with 10% serum plus 1% BSA for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody was diluted 1/500 with PBS plus 3-5% Serum, 0,5% Trition X100 and incubated for 24 hours at 20°C. An Alexa Fluor® 568 goat anti-rabbit was used as the secondary This image is courtesy of an Abreview submitted by Dr Dagmar Salber
