Overview

Product name

Anti-Synaptobrevin antibody [SP11]
See all Synaptobrevin products (6) ...

Description

Mouse monoclonal [SP11] to Synaptobrevin

Specificity

ab11104 recognises the human synaptic vesicle protein synaptobrevin, VAMP; it is not known whether it recognises VAMP1 or VAMP2. We have data to indicate that this antibody may not cross react with Rat. However, this has not been conclusively tested and expression levels may vary in certain cell lines/tissues.

Target

Relevance

Synaptobrevins are highly conserved between vertebrates and invertebrates. It is a major constituent of synaptic vesicles and peptidergic secretory granules in all neurons examined so far. In addition, it is present on secretory granules of neuroendocrine cells. Synaptobrevins, Syntaxins, and the 25 kDa synaptosomal associated protein SNAP25 are the main components of a protein complex involved in the docking and/or fusion of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane.

Cellular localization

Cytoplasmic vesicle › secretory vesicle › synaptic vesicle membrane. Single-pass type IV membrane protein. Cell junction > synapse > synaptosome. Isoform 3 is found in mitochondria, mitochondrial outer membrane.
