Relevance

TAL2 (T-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia protein 2) contains a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain and a DNA-binding domain. A chromosomal aberration involving TAL2 may be a cause of some T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). TAL2 plays a pivotal role in brain development as without this gene, mice cannot survive to maturity.
