ab64715 neutralizes the biological activity of TGF beta 1 and TGF beta 1.2. (heterodimer of TGF beta 1 and TGF beta 2). In sandwich ELISA, less than 2% crossreactivity with TGF beta 3 and TGF beta 5 was observed and no crossreactivity was observed with other cytokines tested.

Recommended dilutions ELISA: Use at a concentration of 2 - 8 µg/ml. Using 100µl/well will detect ~30-2000pg/ml Flow Cyt: Use at a concentration of 25 µg/ml. ICC: Use at a concentration of 8 - 25 µg/ml. IHC-P: Use at a concentration of 8 - 25 µg/ml. IHC-Fr: Use at a concentration of 8 - 25 µg/ml. Neut: Use at a concentration of 0.3 - 1 µg/ml will neutralize 50% of the bioactivity due to 0.25ng/ml of rhTGF beta 1, using the HT2 cell line. WB: Use at a concentration of 1 - 2 µg/ml. The detection limit for hTGF beta 1 is ~5ng/lane under non-reducing conditions. Predicted molecular weight: 25 kDa.
Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Relevance
|
TGF beta 1 (Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1) is a multifunctional peptide capable of influencing cell proliferation, differentiation, and other functions in a wide range of cell types. Transformed as well as non neoplastic tissues, release transforming growth factors; and essentially all cells possess a specific TGF beta 1 receptor. The multimodal nature of TGF beta 1 is seen in its ability to stimulate or inhibit cellular proliferation. TGF beta 1 plays a fundamental role in tissue growth and differentiation involvement in adipogenesis, myogenesis, chondrogenesis, osteogenesis, epithelial cell differentiation and immune cell function. The C-terminal 112 amino acids constitute the mature protein.
