Application notes

IHC-P: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval via the microwave method (5-20 min at full power, 950 W in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0)before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution.

Not yet tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Target

Function

Complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. Known to act on MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-8, MMP-9, MMP-10, MMP-13, MMP-14, MMP-15, MMP-16 and MMP-19.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family.
Contains 1 NTR domain.

Post-translational
modifications

The activity of TIMP2 is dependent on the presence of disulfide bonds.

Cellular localization

Secreted.
