Applications

Show applications key

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab38975 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application notes

WB: A recommended starting dilution of 1/1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT and 1/5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Detects a band of approximately 22 kDa when used against the reduced protein (predicted molecular weight: 24 kDa). Higher concentration of antibody may be needed for non human samples. Dilution optimised using Chromogenic detection. Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

ICC/IF: Use at an assay dependent concentration.

Target

Function

Complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. Known to act on MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-8, MMP-9, MMP-10, MMP-13, MMP-14, MMP-15, MMP-16 and MMP-19.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family.
Contains 1 NTR domain.

Post-translational
modifications

The activity of TIMP2 is dependent on the presence of disulfide bonds.

Cellular localization

Secreted.
