Question 1

Tuesday 25-January-2005

To the technical assistance I used goat anti-UBC3B (ab4281) in my research about ubiquitination in testis and this antibody detected an single band, with a molecular mass between 35-40kDa. This was and unexpected result, because according data base, the molecular weigh of UBC3B in human and mouse is about 27kDa. So, I would like to Know if you have any information about this enzyme in rat tissues. Is molecular weigh of UBC3B in rat higher than in mouse or human? Thanks,

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

As you are probably aware this product is a Fast-Track antibody and it is not fully characterized. Please take a look a the datasheet and read the Terms and Conditions for Fast Track antibodies

We have not tested it for Western blot analysis in our lab only for ELISA. We had a quick look and can only find the predicted (by automated genome analysis) Rat sequence (XP_216864); it looks like our antibody should recognize it but it looks the same size as mouse and human.

We would advice you to proceed with caution and let us know how you are getting on.
