Reacts with
Human
Synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human Vitamin D Receptor around the phosphorylation site of serine 208 (D-L-SP-E-E).
A549 cells.
Liquid
Store at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C
Preservative: 0.02% Sodium Azide

ELISA: 1/10000
ICC/IF: 1/500 - 1/1000.
Nuclear hormone receptor. Transcription factor that mediates the action of vitamin D3 by controlling the expression of hormone sensitive genes. Regulates transcription of hormone sensitive genes via its association with the WINAC complex, a chromatin-remodeling complex. Recruited to promoters via its interaction with the WINAC complex subunit BAZ1B/WSTF, which mediates the interaction with acetylated histones, an essential step for VDR-promoter association. Plays a central role in calcium homeostasis.
Defects in VDR are the cause of rickets vitamin D-dependent type 2A (VDDR2A) [MIM:277440]. A disorder of vitamin D metabolism resulting in severe rickets, hypocalcemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Most patients have total alopecia in addition to rickets.
Belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family. NR1 subfamily.
Contains 1 nuclear receptor DNA-binding domain.
Composed of three domains: a modulating N-terminal domain, a DNA-binding domain and a C-terminal ligand-binding domain.
Nucleus.

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Vitamin D Receptor (phospho S208) antibody (ab63572)

Immunofluorescent staining of A549 cells, using ab63572 at a 1/500 dilution, minus immunising peptide (left image) and plus immunising peptide (right image).
Western blot - Vitamin D Receptor (phospho S208) antibody (ab63572)

developed using the ECL technique
Serum starved U937 cells were incubated with 0.5 µM H2O2, 10 µg/ml A24, or 3 µM DFO for 10 min at 37°C. Phosphorylation of VDR (P-VDR) in whole cell extracts was analyzed using ab63572.
