  • Biological descriptionFluorescent non-selective adenosine antagonist (pKD values are 7.30, 7.50 and 7.37 at A1, A2A and A3 respectively). Wide range of applications which include localizing receptor distribution in tissues and cells, and live-cell imaging of receptor kinetics. No intrinsic agonist activity. Antagonises actions of NECA (ab120440) in vitro.

    XAC Fluorescent ligand (Red) images

    • To determine the apparent KD for ab118163, cells were treated with varying concentrations of NECA alone, or in the presence of 1 µM ab118163, and the cyclic AMP-induced expression of SPAP measured.
      The apparent KD at A2A was calculated from the rightward shift of the agonist response curve in the presence of ab118163, compared to the response curve for the agonist alone, for the receptor-expressing cell line.
      KD values: Antagonist -log KD value for A2A =7.50.
