The gene that codifies for Yes1 is the cellular homolog of the Yamaguchi sarcoma virus oncogene. The encoded protein has tyrosine kinase activity and belongs to the SRC family of proteins. This gene lies in close proximity to thymidylate synthase gene on chromosome 18, and a pseudogene of it has been found on chromosome 22.

First purified by protein G affinity chromatography. Then, the antibody fraction was peptide affinity purified in a 2 step procedure with the control and phosphorylated peptides. The phospho specific antibody was eluted with high and low pH buffers and neutralized immediately, followed by dialysis against PBS.
