Target
- FunctionRequired for MUC2 post-transcriptional synthesis and secretion. May play a role in the production of mucus by intestinal cells (By similarity). Proto-oncogene that may play a role in cell migration, cell differentiation and cell growth.
- Tissue specificityExpressed strongly in trachea, lung, stomach, colon, prostate and small intestine. Expressed weakly in pituitary gland, salivary gland, mammary gland, bladder, appendix, ovary, fetal lung, uterus, pancreas, kidney, fetal kidney, testis, placenta, thyroid gland and in estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer cell lines.
- Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the AGR family.
- Cellular localizationSecreted. Endoplasmic reticulum.

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anterior Gradient 2 antibody (ab43043)This image is courtesy of an anonymous Abreviewab43043 staining cells from a human pancreatic cell line by ICC/IF. Cells were PFA fixed and permeabilized in 0.1% Triton X-100 prior to blocking in 1% BSA for 30 minutes at 22°C. The primary antibody was diluted 1/350 and incubated with the sample for 1 hour at 22°C. An Alexa Fluor® 488 conjugated donkey anti-rabbit antibody, diluted 1/1000, was used as the secondary.
