  • Target

    • RelevanceHexon protein is a major coat protein of adenoviruses. Adenoviruses capsids have three principal protein components: the hexon, the penton, and the fiber. Hexon consists of three subunits together forming two major components of different morphological symmetry. A triangular top with three towers of density is superimposed on a more bulky pseudo hexagonal base. The symmetry of the top is in accord with the trimeric nature of hexon, but that of the base derives from the molecular function, which is to provide a densely packed impenetrable protective outer layer for the virion.
    • Cellular localizationMajor coat protein of adenoviruses.
    • Alternative names

      • Late protein 2 antibody

I received confirmation from the source of ab24240 that the antibody tested was used with an Alexa Red conjugated secondary antibody. The antibody is unavailable as a conjugated form I'm afraid. I have clarified this information on the legend of image ...

Thank you for your email. We do not have exact expiration dates for our products; however, ab8251 should be fine stored at 4C for at least a year. If you have any additional questions, please contact us again.

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately I do not have details of the degree of reactivity of ab8249 and ab8251 against the Adenovirus subclasses. However, I can tell you that ab7428 recognises all Adenovirus serotypes. All antibodies are yet to...

Unfortunately we have not tested the antibodies in that application. The clone 1E11 is working in ELISA and the clones 7C11 and 8C4 in ELISA and immunodiffusion. This is all the information we currently have on this product.

This antibody recognises an epitope common to all adenoviruses, therefore it will detect adenovirus 5.

ab7428, Mouse monoclonal to Adenovirus, recognises a common epitope expressed on all adenoviruses tested and therefore should recognise any virus-infected tissue regardless of species origin.
