Anti-alpha sarcomeric Actin antibody [5C5], prediluted (ab1321)

  • Product nameAnti-alpha sarcomeric Actin antibody [5C5], prediluted
  • Description
Mouse monoclonal [5C5] to alpha sarcomeric Actin, prediluted
  • SpecificityMonoclonal anti-alpha sarcomeric actin has been used as a marker for rhabdomyosarcoma. This antibody is specific to alpha skeletal and alpha cardiac muscle actins. It does not reacts with smooth muscle tissue.
  • Tested applicationsSuitable for: ICC/IF, IHC-P, IHC-Frmore details
  • Species reactivity
Reacts with: Rat, Sheep, Rabbit, Guinea pig, Cow, Human, Xenopus laevis, Carp, Snake
  • Immunogen

BALB/C mice were injected with purified rabbit striated muscle actin.

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab1321 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
  • Application notesICC/IF: Use at an assay dependent dilution (PMID 18609095).
IHC-P: Use at an assay dependent concentration.
IHC-Fr: Use at an assay dependent concentration.
This antibody has been pretitered and quality controlled to work on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded as well as acetone fixed cryostat tissue sections. No further titration is required.

We suggest an incubation period of 30-60 minutes at room temperature.
However, depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed, optimal incubation should be determined by the user.

Not yet tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
  • Target

    • RelevanceCytoplasmic actins, which belong to the microfilament system of cytoskeleton proteins, are some of the most conserved eukaryotic proteins being expressed in mammals and birds. The actin protein consists of six isoforms, varying in their amino acid sequence, but all having the same molecular mass of 42 kDa. The isoforms show more than 90% overall sequence homology, but only 50-60% homology in their 18 N-terminal residues. The N-terminal region appears to be a major antigenic region. There are different alpha isoforms specific for muscle tissues, i.e. skeletal muscle alpha, cardiac muscle alpha, and smooth muscle alpha, respectively.

We can confirm that alpha cardiac striated muscle actin is also called sarcomeric actin. For example, Ab7799 reacts with alpha cardiac striated muscle (sarcomeric) and alpha skeletal muscle. Ab7817 reacts with alpha smooth muscle, does not react with...
