Question 1

Tuesday 06-December-2011

Dear Sir/ Madam,   For my study, I want to do immunohistochemistry on paraffin embedded coupes which contain both human and mouse tissue and I want to distinguish between these both. Therefore, I need specific anti-mouse antibodies for the proteins I am interested in. Two of these proteins are alpha-SMA and VIP. I kindly ask you if you can give me some more information about these antibodies (AB40863 and AB43841), especially about cross-reactivity and if it can be used for IHC-P. And, if possible, can you give me a quote for these antibodies as well?   Thanks in advance!   Yours sincerely,

ANSWER:

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, we do not have any antibodies against SMA and VIP that do NOT react with human.

When a species is not stated as "reacts with" it is simply not tested yet, but could well be recognised by the antibody.

For your purposes I suggest to only use antibodies where it is clearly stated "does NOT react with".

I attached a excel file with all our antibodies that do not react with human but do with mouse. I hope this will help.

Please do not hesitate to contact me again with any further questions.

Question 2

Tuesday 26-February-2008

How was non-reactivity with cytoplasmic gamma and beta actin determined?

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

The production and characterization of this clone, B4, is described in the following reference:

Lessard, JL. 'Two monoclonal antibodies to actin: one muscle selective and one generally reactive.' Cell Motil Cytoskeleton. 1988;10(3):349-62. PMID: 2460261

I hope this information helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
