Application Abreviews Notes
WB Use a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 8 kDa. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for ab109571 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Indirect ELISA Use a concentration of 0.5 - 2 µg/ml. (using 100 µl/well antibody solution). ab109572, in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human beta Defensin 3.
Sandwich ELISA Use a concentration of 0.5 - 2 µg/ml. Can be paired for Sandwich ELISA with Rabbit polyclonal to beta Defensin 3 (Biotin) (ab84234). (using 100 µl/well antibody solution). ab109572, in conjunction with ab84234 as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human beta Defensin 3.

Target

  • FunctionExhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus and S.pyogenes, Gram-negative bacteria P.aeruginosa and E.coli and the yeast C.albicans. Kills multiresistant S.aureus and vancomycin-resistent E.faecium. No significant hemolytic activity was observed.
  • Tissue specificityHighly expressed in skin and tonsils, and to a lesser extent in trachea, uterus, kidney, thymus, adenoid, pharynx and tongue. Low expression in salivary gland, bone marrow, colon, stomach, polyp and larynx. No expression in small intestine.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the beta-defensin family.
