The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application notesImmunoprecipitation (with protein G): use at a concentration of 2µg / mg protein lysate.
Western Blotting: use at a concentration of 1µg / ml for 2hrs at RT.
Not tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions / concentrations should be determined by the end user.
This antibody may be used for detection of beta Galactosidase expressed by the E.coli lacZ geneencoded in many cloned gene sequences, and servesas an indicator for fusion proteins encoded by aninserted DNA sequence.
RelevanceBeta galactosidase is coded by a gene (lac z) in the lac operon of Escherichia coli. It is a metalloenzyme that splits lactose into glucose and galactose. It hydrolyzes terminal, non-reducing beta-D-galactose residues in beta-D-galactosides.
Activation by cations seems to be substrate dependent. K+, Na+, NH4+, Rb+, Cs+ and Mn++ all activate enzyme activity based upon the substrate used.
