At the weekend, three teams of hardy Abcam staff took part in the Chariots of Fire race. Inspired by the famous film, this charity fundraiser is a six-strong relay race of a 1.7 mile circuit through the historic Trinity, Kings, and Clare colleges and along the river Cam.

An unusually warm and sunny day set the perfect scene for Abcam's showdown against teams from local businesses, colleges, and sport clubs. After a fine effort, the three teams posted times of 1:19:31, 1:25:10, and 1:35:13. Very respectable!

After a record number of teams signed up this year, the organizers are hoping to beat the £75,000 raised last year. The money will be divided between two local charities, Red Balloon and Romsey Mill, which both support young people.
