  • .
  • Lorna attended the Hypoxia and Consequences conference held at New York, NY, March 12 - 14. The meeting covered three main topics: transcriptional responses to hypoxia, oxygen sensing and pathophysiological responses to hypoxia.
  • Catherine and Kate went to Oxford, UK for the BSI Oxford Immunology group meeting: 'Lymphocytes, Memory and Disease'. This prestigious event brought together 150 delegates to discuss T cell differentiatation and to celebrate the career of Professor Peter Beverly.
  • Chris was in New Haven, CO for the annual conference StemConn, organized by the Harvard and Yale Stem Cell Institutes. Our posters and pathways were particularly popular, with over 500 copies flying off the Abcam stand!

Meeting round up: Jan 16

Here's an quick update on what our scientific experts have been up to recently:

Giant sheep runs amok in China

Molly at Tienem Square

Or at least that's what it looked like to me...

Terence and Jeong Suk visited China recently to host five seminars on ChIP and Western Blot applications in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. In total, over 450 delegates attended the seminars, and it seems that Molly the sheep wanted to come along too.

Having read all the feedback comments about our website, I know that there are some pretty big fans of Molly out there. If you can't tell, we're all pretty keen on her too!

At the end of each seminar there was a Q&A session, which proved to be very popular. Questions included:

Meeting round up: Dec 16

Abcam is heading to San Francisco! Our scientific experts are in town attending two meetings: we do this to ensure that we keep abreast of the latest cutting-edge research, and stay in touch with our customers.

Last week, Ariel, Lee, Seema, Dan and Kimberly joined over 20,000 attendees at the American Society of Hematology meeting. This was the first time we've attended this meeting, and our CD antigen chart and Chemokines and their receptors poster were particularly popular with the clinicians and researchers that we met.

This week Jaime, Kristine, Chris, Karen, Michael and Philippe are at the 48th annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology. I'll be sure to let you know how they get on!

Meeting round up: Nov 27

A bumper update on what our scientific experts have been up to recently:

  • Jaime and Kristine went to the American Heart Association's scientific conference in New Orleans, LA, US. If you weren't one of the 30,000 doctors, nurses, pharmaceutical representatives, and other health care professionals who attended, you can get hold of our Cardiovascular resources and pathway posters online.
  • The 38th annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience was held in Washington, DC, US. Kristine, Seema, Abarna, Bill and Dan joined over 33,000 attendees at the largest Neuroscience conference worldwide.
  • Candy and Danielle attended 'Epigenetic mechanisms in health and disease - from biology to medicine' at the Said Business School, Oxford, UK. The meeting was heavily over-subscribed and should take place bi-annually, so we look forward to taking part again in two years' time.
  • Roisin and Andy went to the Protein Science Forum in Bracknell, UK.
  • Jeong Suk and Terrence are in China this week to host five seminars on ChIP technique.

As well as sending our scientific experts all over the world to keep up-to-date with the latest research, we organize our own conferences to provide opportunities for scientists to get together and showcase their work .

Meeting round up: Nov 10

Here's the latest in a series of regular posts to let you know what our scientific experts have been up to recently:

  • Sambhav was at the 12th annual meeting of the Signal Transduction Society, held in Weimar, Germany. This was the first meeting we've attended since launching our Signal Transduction section of products.
  • Candy attended the 3rd International conference on MicroRNAs at University of Cambridge, UK. This meeting brought together 180 participants to discuss the topic 'biology to development and disease'.
  • Terence went to the 67th Japanese Cancer Conference in Nagoya City, Japan. This three-day event is the biggest annual Cancer research gathering in Japan.
  • We held our first Multidrug Resistance and ABC Transporters conference in Baltimore, MD, US. Organized by Dr Suresh V Ambudkar (National Cancer Institute, NIH) and Abcam, the meeting covered multidrug resistance in Cancer and ABC transporters: basic, clinical, regulation and drug-drug interaction aspects.

This week Jaime, Sybille and Kristine will be at the American Heart Association, New Orleans, LA, US. Stop by booth 3106 to view our Cardiovascular resources, pathway posters, and discuss our Cardiovascular antibodies.

Meeting round up: Oct 27

We send our scientific experts all over the world, to ensure we keep abreast of the latest cutting-edge research, source and develop antibodies to exciting new targets, and provide the best possible scientific support to our customers. You might even have seen them yourself at a recent conference, meeting, or course.

I thought it would be great to have a regular post on the blog to let you know where Abcam went in the last week. So without further ado,

  • Tanya attended a 'Breast Cancer Clinics and Biology' course at the Institut Curie, Paris, France. This covered the epidemiology, biology, genetics, pathology, epigenetic and therapy of breast cancers and the different techniques used in the detection and research of this disease.
  • Lee and Laetitia attended the first annual Immunochemotherapy conference, also at the Institut Curie, to meet with researchers in this rapidly growing area and exhibit Abcam's Immunology and Cancer products. This meeting focused on the experimental evidence surrounding the concept that chemotherapy may and should induce an anti-cancer immune response.

We also attend scientific tradeshows, and organize our own events to provide opportunities for junior scientists to showcase their work.
