Target

  • RelevanceWrb is a composite blood group antigen resulting from the association between Glycophorin A and Band 3. Wrb directly agglutinates erythrocytes, giving reduced deformability and inhibition of malarial parasite invasion (eg P. falciparum, P. knowles). The antigen is thought to be related to Glycophorin A/Band 3 interaction in the lipid bilayer.
