Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab19035 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
ICC/IF Use at an assay dependent concentration.
WB Use a concentration of 0.3 - 1 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 23 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 26 kDa).
IHC-P Use at an assay dependent dilution. PubMed: 21454667

Target

  • Function
Plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space, through calcium-independent cell-adhesion activity.
  • Tissue specificity
Liver, kidney. Also found in ear.
  • Involvement in disease
Defects in CLDN14 are the cause of deafness autosomal recessive type 29 (DFNB29) [MIM:605608]. DFNB29 is a form of sensorineural hearing loss. Sensorineural deafness results from damage to the neural receptors of the inner ear, the nerve pathways to the brain, or the area of the brain that receives sound information.
  • Sequence similarities
    Belongs to the claudin family.
  • Cellular localization
Cell junction > tight junction. Cell membrane.

ab19035 (0.3 µg/ml) staining of Human Liver lysate (35µg protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.
  • ab19035 staining Claudin 14 in kidney cells by Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence.

Cells were fixed with methanol, permeabilized with Triton X-100 and blocked with 5% BSA for 30 minutes. Samples were incubated with primary antibody (1/600 in PBS + 0.5% BSA + 0.1% Triton X-100) for 1 hour at 20°C. An AlexaFluor®488-conjugated donkey anti-goat polyclonal IgG (1/800) was used as the secondary antibody.

Thank you for getting back to me. Generally if an immunogen forms an alignment of 6 or more consecutive residues I would consider it possible that the antibody would react against the homolog of the species. However, if it is a polyclonal antisera ...
