CLEC9a is a glycosylated protein that has been described as being expressed as a dimer of 100 kDa under non-reducing conditions which can be resolved to two bands migrating at ~40 and ~45 kDa subunits in WB. The predicted band size (based on amino acid size) of CLEC9a is 27 kDa. Hence depending on the state of glycosylation in a given lysate, CLEC9a may be observed between ~27 and ~45 kDa, as a single band or as a doublet, in western blots

  • Function
    Functions as an endocytic receptor on a small subset of myeloid cells specialized for the uptake and processing of material from dead cells. Recognizes filamentous form of actin in association with particular actin-binding domains of cytoskeletal proteins, including spectrin, exposed when cell membranes are damaged, and mediate the cross-presentation of dead-cell associated antigens in a Syk-dependent manner.
