RelevanceCtip1 and Ctip 2 are closely-related C2H2-type zinc finger proteins.
Ctip1 functions as a myeloid and B-cell proto-oncogene. It may play important roles in leukemogenesis and hematopoiesis. It is an essential factor in lymphopoiesis and is required for B-cell formation in foetal liver.
Ctip2 may be a tumor-suppressor protein involved in T-cell lymphomas and a key regulator of both differentiation and survival during thymocyte development. It may be associated with B-cell malignancies.
