Target

  • RelevanceDeg5, also known as HHOA, is a probable serine protease. Analysis of the Arabidopsis genome revealed 14 genes encoding members of Deg family. At least four Deg proteases (Deg1, Deg2, Deg5 and Deg8) are targeted to the chloroplast. Deg5 and Deg8 form a hexamer in the thylakoid lumen. Both, Deg5 and Deg8, have a synergistic function in the primary cleavage of the CD-loop of the photosystem II reaction centre protein D1.
