  • Product overview

Abcam’s Elafin Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human Elafin in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for Human Elafin coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Elafin present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human Elafin antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Elafin bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Properties

  • RelevanceThis gene encodes an elastase-specific inhibitor that functions as an antimicrobial peptide against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The protein contains a WAP-type four-disulfide core (WFDC) domain, and is thus a member of the WFDC domain family. Most WFDC gene members are localized to chromosome 20q12-q13 in two clusters: centromeric and telomeric. This gene belongs to the centromeric cluster. Expression of this gene is upgulated by bacterial lipopolysaccharides and cytokines.

Thank you for contacting us.

The exact epitopes that the antibody pair used in ab100658 Elafin/Skalp Human ELISA kit recognize is unfortunately unknown. The immunogen used to raise the antibodies was the full length protein (minus the sig...

Thank you for the update.

If the precipitate still exists in the 5X solution, bring the buffer up to room temperature, suspend the solids by swirling the container, draw an aliquot, for instance 1 ml, and dilute it to a 1X solution by adding...

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I think this precipitate is just salts coming out of solution, since it is a 5X solution. If the precipitate looks crystalline, I recommend heating the buffer in a 37C waterbath, to see if this brings the p...
