  • Function
    Involved in both the initiation and regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells by phosphorylating a number of transcription factors such as ELK-1. Phosphorylates EIF4EBP1; required for initiation of translation. Phosphorylates microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2). Phosphorylates SPZ1 (By similarity). Phosphorylates heat shock factor protein 4 (HSF4).

  • ab119357, at 1/100 dilution, staining ERK1 in untreated and siRNA knockdown treated HeLa cells (Formalin fixed and permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100) by Immunoflourescence followed by DyLight 549 goat-anti-mouse secondary antibody at a dilution of 1/400.
    Nuclei (blue) were stained with Hoechst 33342 dye.
  • ab119357, at 1/100 dilution, staining ERK1 in deparaffinized Human colon cancer tissue by Immunohistochemistry using a goat anti-mouse HRP secondary antibody at a dilution of 1/500 and colorimetric detection using metal enhanced DAB.
    Note: strong cytoplasmic localization of ERK1.
