The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Use a concentration of 1 - 5 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 351 kDa. XP_498111
Use at an assay dependent dilution.
Use a concentration of 10 µg/ml.
FunctionRequired to maintain the integrity of photoreceptor cells.
Tissue specificityPresent in retina.
Involvement in diseaseDefects in EYS are the cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 25 (RP25) [MIM:602772]. RP leads to degeneration of retinal photoreceptor cells. Patients suffer from night blindness, beginning at approximately 25 years of age, and deterioration of visual acuity (central vision), beginning at approximately 30 years of age. By age 55 to 60 years, many affected subjects have no perception of light in either eye.
Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the EYS family. Contains 27 EGF-like domains. Contains 5 laminin G-like domains.
Cellular localizationSecreted. Localizes in the photoreceptor cell layer.
