Target
-
Function
The heparin-binding fibroblast growth factors play important roles in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, angiogenesis, cell differentiation and cell migration. They are potent mitogens in vitro. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. -
Cellular localization
Secreted. Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm > cell cortex. Lacks a cleavable signal sequence. Within the cytoplasm, it is transported to the cell membrane and then secreted by a non-classical pathway that requires Cu(2+) ions and S100A13. Secreted in a complex with SYT1. - Information by UniProt

To detect human FGF1 by Western Blot analysis ab83163 can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 µg/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant human FGF1 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Image shown is non-reducing conditions; Human recombinant FGF1 protein at 250 - 0.24 ng/ml.
Lane 1 is MW marker, lanes 2-12 human recombinant FGF1 protein.
-
To detect human FGF1 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μl/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25 – 1.0 μg/ml of ab83163 is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with an anti-FGF1 (ab9588) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 – 0.4 ng/well of recombinant human FGF1.
