  • General notes
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.

Overgrowth of epithelial cells by fibroblasts has long been an obstacle to cultivation of normal and abnormal epithelial cells. In addition, apart from the functional significance of cells characteristics, the characterization of cell lines is important for correlation of cultures with tissue origin, identification of the lineage to which the cells belong or the precursor status of the cells. Monoclonal antibodies to fibroblast surface protein should provide a powerful tool for control of fibroblast growth in a variety of human cell culture systems, such as thymic epithelial (TE) cell cultures allowing the growth of highly enriched populations of the TE cells. It is also useful for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting.

Abcam is committed to meeting high standards of ethical manufacturing and has decided to discontinue this product by June 2019 as it has been generated by the ascites method. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
ICC/IF Use a concentration of 5 µg/ml.
IHC-Fr Use at an assay dependent concentration.
WB Use at an assay dependent concentration.

Detects a band of approximately 43, 72-80 kDa.

The titre of this antibody has been assessed. Suggested not to use at lower than 1/500 for any application.

  • Application notes
    Is unsuitable for IHC-P.
  • Images

    • ab11333 (1/750) detecting fibroblast surface protein in human BJ fibroblast cells (red). Cells were fixed in formaldehyde, permeabilized in 0.1% Triton and blocked in 8% BSA. Cells were counter stained with DAPI to visualize the nucleus (blue).
