Function
Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. Gamma tubulin is found at microtubule organizing centers (MTOC) such as the spindle poles or the centrosome. Pericentriolar matrix component that regulates alpha/beta tubulin minus-end nucleation, centrosome duplication and spindle formation. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the tubulin family. -
Post-translational
modificationsPhosphorylation at Ser-131 by BRSK1 regulates centrosome duplication, possibly by mediating relocation of gamma-tubulin and its associated proteins from the cytoplasm to the centrosome. -
Cellular localization
Cytoplasm > cytoskeleton > centrosome. - Information by UniProt

Images
-
IHC image of gamma Tubulin staining in a section of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded normal human colon tissue*, performed on a Leica Bond system using the standard protocol B. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH6, epitope retrieval solution 1) for 20 mins. The section was then incubated with ab197629 at 1/500 dilution for 15 mins at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated ABC system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX. The inset negative control image is taken from an identical assay without primary antibody.
For other IHC staining systems (automated and non-automated) customers should optimize variable parameters such as antigen retrieval conditions, primary antibody concentration and antibody incubation times.
