I was wondering whether it could be possible to receive a more information about the Anti-Gibberellic acid antibody (ab37243) I would like to know if I could use this antibody to recognize the free gibberellic acid by the direct ELISA system.I am asking about this because last month, I bought an Anti-Conjugated Gibberellic Acid RAT Polyclonal and I had some problems in carrying out my protocol.I am working with GA from soil. I understand that for both the immunogen was GA conjugated to a protein carrier, but in truth I do not understand what is the difference between the Anti-Conjugated Gibberellic Acid RAT Polyclonal target conjugate GA (ab37243) and Rat Anti-Gibberellic acid Polyclonal Antibody , Unconjugated . Which is the most suitable application for these products? |

Thank you for contacting us. The antibody ab37243 will recognize only Gibberellic Acid in the presence of glutaraldehyde, that is, when gibberellic acid is conjugated to a protein via glutaraldehyde, which admittedly limits its use for ELISA. The word "conjugated" is also used in another way when referring to antibodies. Antibodies themselves may be conjugated to various signal-producing reagents such as fluorochromes (for example, FITC) or enzymes (for example, HRP), or they are unconjugated, with no signal-producing reagent attached to them. I hope this makes sense. The best antibody for your application depends on the nature of your sample. It appears that you need an antibody capable of detecting free gibberellic acid, with no glutaraldehyde modification, so ab37423 will not be useful. Whether or not the antibody itself is conjugated to something else is less important than what the antibody is capable of recognizing and sticking to. If the antibody is conjugated to a signal -producing reagent such as HRP, then you will not need a secondary antibody (conjugated to HRP, for example) to detect the primary antibody. |
