    • RelevanceGlutamate is considered the principle excitatory amino acid in the CNS. Its role in cellular metabolism is well known. Glumate reactivity is particularly observed in the granular cells of the cerebellum, the pyramidal cells of the hippocampus, the Betz cells of the motor strip, and the projections of the frontal lobe to the basal ganglia.
