The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application notesELISA: 1/2000.
WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. ab17198 reacts with hirudin in both reduced and unreduced forms. Detects a band of approximately 7 kDa.
Not tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
RelevanceHirudin is a highly effective and very specific anticoagulant which specifically inhibits formation of fibrin and activation of factors V, VIII and XIII by forming irreversible, noncovalent 1:1 complexes with a-thrombin. Hirudin is a 65 amino acid polypeptide, 7 kDa protein naturally originating from the medical leech Hirudo medicinalis. It is the most potent thrombin inhibitor known to date.
