Potent vasodilator and endogenous histamine receptor agonist.
Histamine, free base
Potent vasodilator. Formed by the decarboxylation of L-histidine. Acts as an agonist for endogenous histamine receptors. Histamine H1 receptor activation mobilizes Ca2+; H2 activation stimulates adenylate cyclase activity in neurons. Activates nitric oxide synthase (NOS).
