Overview

  • Product nameAnti-HTLV I gp46 antibody [68/4.11.21]
See all HTLV I gp46 primary antibodies
  • Description
    Mouse monoclonal [68/4.11.21] to HTLV I gp46
  • SpecificityReacts with Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type I (HTLV I) surface protein, gp46. Reacts strongly with MTA-4 recombinant HTLV I env. No reactivity with the surface protein of HTLV II (MoT) has been observed.
  • Tested applicationsSuitable for: Radioimmunoprecipitation, WB, ELISA, ICC/IFmore details
  • EpitopeThe epitope is located between amino acids 190-209 of the viral env gene.
  • General notes

The antibody is used to detect HTLV I surface protein and its precursor in lysates prepared from virons or infected cells. Using immunoblotting and/or radioimmunoprecipitation analysis, the biosynthesis and metabolism of viral surface protein may be studied.

ELISA Use at an assay dependent dilution.
ICC/IF Use a concentration of 1 - 10 µg/ml.

Target

  • RelevanceHTLV I gp46 surface protein is processed from its precursor gp62. It attaches the virus to the host cell by binding to its receptor. This interaction triggers the refolding of the transmembrane protein (TM) and is thought to activate its fusogenic potential by unmasking its fusion peptide. Fusion occurs at the host cell plasma membrane.
  • Cellular localizationVirion membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Host cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
  • Alternative names
