  • Product overview

Abcam’s APRIL Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for accurate quantitative measurement of Human APRIL concentrations in cell culture supernatant, serum and plasma (citrate, EDTA, heparin).

APRIL specific antibodies have been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and along with an APRIL biotinylated detection antibody and the microplate is then incubated at room temperature. Following washing with wash buffer a Streptavidin-HRP conjugate is added to each well, incubated at room temperature and then unbound conjugates are washed away using wash buffer. TMB is then used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of APRIL captured on the plate.

  • Research areas
  • Function
Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI and to TNFRSF17/BCMA. May be implicated in the regulation of tumor cell growth. May be involved in monocyte/macrophage-mediated immunological processes.
  • Tissue specificity
Expressed at high levels in transformed cell lines, cancers of colon, thyroid, lymphoid tissues and specifically expressed in monocytes and macrophages.
  • Sequence similarities
Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications
The precursor is cleaved by furin.
