    Abcam’s IL-12 + IL-23 p40 Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for accurate quantitative measurement of Human IL-12 + IL-23 p40 concentrations in Cell culture supernatant, serum and plasma (citrate, heparin).

    Human IL-12 + IL-23 p40 specific antibodies have been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells along with a biotin-conjugated Human IL-12 + IL-23 p40 detection antibody then incubated at room temperature. Following washing, a Streptavidin-HRP conjugate is added to each well, incubated at room temperature and washed. TMB is added and then catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after addition of acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Human IL-12 + IL-23 p40 captured on the plate.

Properties

  • RelevanceCytokine that can act as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhance the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulate the production of IFN-gamma by resting PBMC. Associates with IL23A to form the IL-23 interleukin, an heterodimeric cytokine which functions in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-23 may constitute with IL-17 an acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL-23 binds to an heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of proinflammatory cytokines. IL-23 induces autoimmune inflammation and thus may be responsible for autoimmune inflammatory diseases and may be important for tumorigenesis.
