    Abcam’s LIGHT Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human LIGHT in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. (Human LIGHT concentration is pretty low in normal serum/plasma, it may not be detected in this assay).

    This assay employs an antibody specific for Human LIGHT coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and LIGHT present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human LIGHT antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LIGHT bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Properties

  • FunctionCytokine that binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR. Binding to the decoy receptor TNFRSF6B modulates its effects. Activates NFKB, stimulates the proliferation of T-cells, and inhibits growth of the adenocarcinoma HT-29. Acts as a receptor for Herpes simplex virus.
  • Tissue specificityPredominantly expressed in the spleen but also found in the brain. Weakly expressed in peripheral lymphoid tissues and in heart, placenta, liver, lung, appendix, and kidney, and no expression seen in fetal tissues, endocrine glands, or nonhematopoietic tumor lines.
