    Tissue: Thyroid Location: Left lobe. Diagnosis: Benign colloid nodules. Stage: NA Grade: NA Sex: Female Age: 72 years Gross findings: Tumor size 3 cm. Cut section firm and tan. Microscopic findings: Sections show thyroid tissue with follicular architecture. There are follicle of varying sizes with a flattened to cuboidal follicular epithelium. Focal hemorrhage is present, and one area with cholesterol clefts and fibrosis is noted. There is no evidence for a follicular lesion. Thyroid nodules show pushing borders with no evidence of adjacent thyroid infiltration. Features of papillary carcinoma are not identified.

  • Purification notesTissue specimens are homogenized in modified RIPA buffer to obtain the soluble proteins, and centrifuged to clarify. The pellet was further extracted with a second buffer to obtain the less soluble protein fraction. The lysate solution may appear turbid at cold temperatures due to insolubility of buffer components. The solution should clear upon warming to room temperature.
