    Abcam’s TIE2 Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for accurate quantitative measurement of Human TIE2 concentrations in cell culture supernatant, serum and plasma (EDTA, citrate, heparin).

    TIE2 specific antibodies have been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and along with an biotinylated TIE2 detection antibody and the microplate is then incubated overnight at 4 ºC. Following washing with wash buffer a Streptavidin-HRP conjugate is added to each well, incubated at room temperature and then unbound conjugates are washed away using wash buffer. TMB is added and then catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after addition of an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of TIE2 captured on the plate.

  • FunctionThis protein is a protein tyrosine-kinase transmembrane receptor for angiopoietin 1. It may constitute the earliest mammalian endothelial cell lineage marker. Probably regulates endothelial cell proliferation, differentiation and guides the proper patterning of endothelial cells during blood vessel formation.
  • Tissue specificityPredominantly expressed in endothelial cells and their progenitors, the angioblasts. Has been directly found in placenta and lung, with a lower level in umbilical vein endothelial cells, brain and kidney.
  • Involvement in diseaseDefects in TEK are a cause of dominantly inherited venous malformations (VMCM) [MIM:600195]; an error of vascular morphogenesis characterized by dilated, serpiginous channels.
